Engineering Industry Overcomes Difficulties for International Integration
wenglor sensoric GmbH has expanded its global sales network to include an additional sales company in Southeast Asia. General manager Mun Yew Law and his team at wenglor sensoric Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. opened for business in the Malaysian state of Selangor at the beginning of the year, in order to accommodate booming demand for innovative sensor technologies. In addition to independent sales companies in India, China, Thailand and now Malaysia as well, wenglor collaborates closely with Asian trading partners in Singapore, Vietnam, Korea, Indonesia and Hong Kong. However, Malaysia has some of the most highly developed industrial sectors throughout this economic area in the fields of semiconductor production and automobile manufacturing, as well as packaging and food production. The Malaysian market is not only distinguished by considerable industrial know-how within the country itself, but rather by significant exports to the ASEAN economic area (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). “Asia will play a decisive role for us in the future. Potential for automation technologies is enormous there”, explains wenglor managing director and sales manager Fabian Baur. “The great variety of different industry sectors, as well as continuously rising numbers of wenglor customers, make Malaysia extremely interesting for us. At the moment there’s no end in sight for the boom.” The seven-person sales team, which has already moved into its offices in greater Kuala Lumpur and launched its business operations, will focus initially on optical sensors, image processing systems and safety technology. “Our products demonstrate outstanding characteristics in numerous areas, which provide us with a significant head start in the Asian market – and this is a great opportunity for us”, says Baur.
