SOTB Technology to Develop Chip Manufacturing Industry in Ho Chi Minh City
SOTB (Silicon on Thin Buried Oxide), an advanced technology used to design and manufacturing chips, will be used to develop an integrated circuit chip industry in HCM City, heard a seminar held by the HCM City People's Committee.
The SOTB, which helps to sharply reduce power consumption for chips, has been developed in Japan, the US, France and other developed countries.
"SOTP will be one of the major technologies used to develop HCM City's programme on integrated circuits and will help turn Vietnam into one of the leading countries that designs and manufactures chips," said a press release from the Vietnam National University Integrated Circuit Design Research and Education Centre (ICDREC).
During the seminar, ICDREC announced an agreement signed with the Japanese company Reresas on cooperation to develop SOTB in the areas of training, technology transfer, and experimental manufacturing in Vietnam.
The agreement is considered a major step in the development of the country's integrated circuit industry.
